Project Description

In 2019, during the summer months, the wreck of the “Clotilda” was unearthed in the delta of Mobile Bay. Notably, the Clotilda represents the last documented vessel to transport abducted Africans to the United States for enslavement. Those on board, comprising men, women, and children, later established Africatown, located between Mobile and Prichard, Alabama.

Darron Patterson, who descends from one of the survivors, approached us to help disseminate their narrative, leading to the creation of The Clotilda Story. This platform serves as a hub for news and relevant information for the descendants, also functioning as a communication medium for the Clotilda Descendants Association.

Our role involved crafting and implementing a bespoke WordPress site, coupled with providing them with ongoing customer care support. This enables Darron and other descendants to dedicate their energies to supporting the Africatown community and those tracing their lineage back to the Clotilda.
